The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Bataan under Vice Gov. Ma. Cristina M. Garcia approved last week the province’s budget of P3.492 billion for the year 2022; much higher than the previous year’s P1.2 billion.
Receiving the lion’s share of the budget is the maintenance and other operating expenses (MOOE) which eats up more than 50 percent at P1.759 billion.
The personnel services got P732 million; Capital outlay, P620 million; financial expenses, and P379 million. Board Member Rey Ibe, chair of provincial board’s finance and appropriation committee said the welcome move is that the provincial government has allotted a considerable slice of the budget for COVID response and health workers.
Governor Abet Garcia said the annual budget was prepared after thorough consultation with concerned offices or departments. He said the budget aims to implement a responsive program of development that will satisfy the needs, aspirations and general welfare of “our people.”
“To generate revenue, the province aims to maintain and improve dynamic tax information campaign and intensified tax collection drive and implement effective property management system,” Garcia said.
